2025 Special Olympics DanceSport WA State Games

The 2025 Special Olympics DanceSport WA State Games will take place on Sunday, 28 September 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Victoria Park Leisure Centre, located at the corner of Kent Street and Gloucester Street, East Victoria Park.

This exciting event is part of the Special Olympics WA State Games and serves as a qualifying competition for the Special Olympics Australia National Games. The National Games will be held in Melbourne in October 2026, with DanceSport selected as a demonstration sport for the occasion.

What to Expect in the DanceSport Competition

Dance styles include:

• Ballroom

• Street Dance

• Performing Arts

• Specialty

Each dancer can perform:

• One solo routine (1:10 – 1:30 minutes)

• One couple or duo routine (1:10 – 1:30 minutes)

• One team routine (1:30 – 1:50 minutes)

Performances will be assessed on:

• Musicality

• Choreography execution

• Athleticism

• Presentation

An information pack, including rules and judging criteria, will be emailed with your order confirmation.

Who Can Compete?

This competition is for people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who have been participating in regular DanceSport training, either with Special Olympics or through another recognised program.

Special Olympics is a global movement providing year-round sports programmes for people with intellectual disabilities. We celebrate abilities, promote inclusion, and offer opportunities for athletes to build confidence, make friends, and have fun through sport.

Para Dance:

• Combi Standard: Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz

• Combi Latin: Samba, Paso Doble, Jive

• Combi New Vogue: Carousel, Tangoette, Gypsy Tap

• Single Dance: Waltz, Samba, Jive
