Sporting Schools – Dance Up!

Ballroom Fit is an Endorsed Provider for the Australian Government’s Sporting Schools Program.

Dance Up! brings the joy of dance into Australian classrooms. It is DanceSport Australia’s official school dance program delivered under the Australian Government’s Sporting Schools initiative, administered by the Australian Sports Commission.

The program provides students with an opportunity to learn and participate in dance in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment.

Programs are delivered at schools by Endorsed Providers — dance studios registered with DanceSport Australia as Registered Training Facilities (RTFs).

Free for Students

Dance Up! programs are free of charge to participating students and their families.

Ballroom Fit can deliver Dance Up! programs to schools, helping students develop:

Frequently Asked Questions

For Schools

Does the program cost our school anything?

No. Sporting Schools programs must be provided free of charge to students. Delivery costs are met through the Sporting Schools funding allocated to your school by the Australian Sports Commission.

Do we need a hall or dance floor?

No. A school hall, gymnasium, covered area or cleared classroom can be suitable for Dance Up! activities.

Schools will need to provide a suitable space and a sound source for playing music.

Do students need special clothing or shoes?

No. Students can participate in their normal school sports clothing and footwear. No special dance shoes or clothing are required.

Are the trainers checked?

Yes. Trainers delivering Dance Up! programs must meet the relevant DanceSport Australia requirements, including holding a current Working with Children Check, appropriate Trainer Accreditation for the age group and current DanceSport Australia membership.

Endorsed Providers maintain a Trainer Register with DanceSport Australia.

How do we book a Dance Up! program?

Bookings are managed through the Sporting Schools school portal.
